A sillier bridge page, as the action continues. Not really much more to say.

Give Free Rice to the Hungry by Playing Games

Free rice donation site

Free rice donation site

Freerice.com has a clever (and very generous) system in place in which by playing online learning games you can help give rice to the hungry and poor. The site lets you choose between subjects like geography, art, languages, etc, and by answering questions and learning new things, you help donate rice to the hungry. Very cool system, and I’ve enjoyed some of the things I’ve been able to learn from this site. Worth checking out!

Free SimCity Online!

I just found the original SimCity game online for free, and its one of those games I used to enjoy playing about… 15 years ago? Anyhow, I gave it a quick spin and…. oh no!!!

Apparently, its not a good idea to build an elaborate city, leave the game running and then go off to another tab and forget about the game...

Star Wars on Blu-ray, more extra footage, buying the same disks again and oversaturation

Well, it sounds like Lucas will be re-issuing the Star Wars films yet again, this time in Blu-ray format, sometime in 2011. I don’t have a Blu-ray player yet, nor am I in any hurry to get one, just for what looks like a couple bonus scenes added back into the film, including this one with Luke constructing the new lightsaber in ‘Return of the Jedi’…

The Emperor has something special planned with the deleted scenes..."

What gets me is that Lucas had this scene all along, and easily could have released with the ROTJ dvd years ago as bonus material, but he didn’t. He just saves this stuff up and waits for some opportune time to seed reissues of the series with this material, just to make it sell more. It’s admirable marketing but lousy respect for fan loyalty.

Truthfully, I loved the original trilogy, mildly enjoyed small parts of the prequels, and really don’t have any interest beyond that – namely, the Clone Wars and an endless succession of video games that I honestly can’t even follow (and is all of this canon?)

I have far too many category tags for Star Wars on this blog, and I just need to give this old series a rest, once and for all. The magic is quickly waning, although I will check out the bonus material for this new series next year, but likely via Netflix. I’ve already bought these SW movies enough times already and don’t need to give Lucas any more of my paycheck…

The Time…

I recently had the chance to work on a page of artwork for my friend Brian Bradley for a work of his called “The Time…” It’s a pretty clever idea, with a number of different artists all working on it, including a few of my friends from Alpha-Omega.  The page I offered is towards the end.  Here’s the unlettered original, and the final version is linked on the site.  I think what Brian did here was a clever idea in terms of mixed media/mixed artists and the end result is very unique.

Goofy, happy fun dragon art

I did some drawings recently of a dragon for a contest at work.  The idea is to submit a dragonboat logo design.  I aimed for something with a 1980′s Saturday morning cartoon feel.  Here’s the colored version, and the original linework (suitable for printing and coloring!)

Dragonboat in color! Happy fun times!

December Sun #5 – Page 15

Over a month late, but here’s the next, erm, exciting page of dialog.  I debated cutting this, but it makes a nice bridge for the next page.  The big deal with this page is, of course, “weapon prime”, whatever that is.  Notice the ironic comment about software quality assurance, which is funny, I think, because I used to be a QA for about 10 years.
