The next few weeks look to be busy ones, so going to get this posted now and out of the way.
Now a note about this: Bull is eating a sundae made with hydrogenated bacon grease and pills as sprinkles, which is not advisable. So just a reminder, this is a work of fiction, and not based upon facts. The reader is strongly advised not to engage in the activities of the characters, especially having any contact with hydrogenated oils or pills which may cause serious injuries or death.
The key to Bullbeast was revealed back in issue #1: he’s got a freaky, reverse metabolism that puts to use toxins and garbage granting him additional strength and powers. Adam is used to observing this sort of thing but for Rick its a spectacle of disturbing fascination.

Over a month late, but here’s the next, erm, exciting page of dialog. I debated cutting this, but it makes a nice bridge for the next page. The big deal with this page is, of course, “weapon prime”, whatever that is. Notice the ironic comment about software quality assurance, which is funny, I think, because I used to be a QA for about 10 years.
Very late with this one, but I’ll try to be better with the next few. Some notes:
1) Panel 1 features the “obvious twins” fleeing the tank.
2) Panels 2 on feature one of my favorite, yet completely implausible, features of comic books that I read in the 1980′s, namely Chris Claremont stories, and that is characters who have ridiculously overly-verbose internal dialogs. I personally love this in a comic though, as it pads out a story so much more and instead of just flipping through panel after panel of action, this is a way that you get an internal narrative that, although completely unrealistic, helps make the story so much more substantial (Well, in Claremont’s “Uncanny X-Men” maybe. Not really here. In fact, regarding that excessive dialog…)
3) I added overly-unnecessarily dialog into the last panel to cover up some flaws on the right of the page. In fact, if you look at the upper right of the building, you’ll see a partially-hidden “PS”, which is my note when drawing/inking that I don’t care anymore and that I’ll just fix up the area with PhotoShop. I ironically missed this one after doing the gradient half-tone, so I just left the PS there and added some marks to make it look like an explosion or something (this is the all-out-completely implausible page, but who cares?)
I also went a little bit overboard with the halftone in that last panel. Oh, and did you pick up the not-too-subtle ‘Superman’ reference on the page? Again, this issue is more tongue-in-cheek and more just having fun with the story and the characters. Although I consider it “cannon” in the saga, its just a little more lightweight this time around.
Another battle sequence page with plenty of destruction and sound effects. Again, it’s a lighter issue this time.. not a lot of thought required (although this book has never been about deep thought…)
Yeah, I’m horribly late with this…. a little over two weeks. But the show will go on.
BTW – the first panel of this page is intended to be an immediate sequel to the last comment made of the previous page. Hit the previous link, reread Dad’s comments in the last panel, and hopefully the first panel of this page makes a little more sense. Maybe it will, maybe it won’t – but I thought it was kindof funny.
A little behind with the comic… I think its becoming more of a bi-weekly update, but it will still be updated.
Very much enjoying this track right now on LastFm by the late Jerry Goldsmith. Remarkable composer…
Finally finished this one up. As I posted below, this one was a chore to have to redo, after losing the original on my crashed hard drive. But here it is, the LAST of the lost pages from issue #5. Everything beyond this is all new…
More subtle and not-so-subtle references on this page, and far too much halftone…
Another busy battle page. You know, I could spend hours with the half-tones on these pages, but I eventually get to the point where I just say, “Rob, give it a break.”
This page was one of the handful of pages that I lost when my Sony Vaio hard drive crashed last year. It’s frustrating to have to rebuild and re-letter everything again, but alas, here it is again, freshly lettered.
Look carefully at the mob and you might see some semi-familiar faces. Again, this issue tends to take itself a little less seriously…
